Audio slideshow: Palestinian Bagpipers

Across the West Bank on public holidays, thousands of Palestinian scouts march through the streets twirling batons, banging drums and playing bagpipes.

The scouts and marching bands are a legacy of the British mandate from 1920 to 1948, but it is the Scottish cultural connection that now resonates with some Palestinians, who see historical parallels with their own struggle against Israeli occupation.

Queen Noor of Jordan (Arabic: الملكة نور‎; born 23 August 1951) is the last wife and widow of the late King Hussein of Jordan. She was queen consort of Jordan during her marriage (1978-1999) and has been dowager queen of Jordan since her husband's death in 1999.
